MaKE Music

The goal of this program is to elevate music in the community, promote diverse artistry, provide opportunities for artists, singers, and instrumentalists, and cultivate music and art in the Milwaukee community. We invite artists to “Make” music with us, whether you are a church choirs, high schools, dancers, visual artists, cellists, guitarists, etc.

Ian Gould

Ian Gould is a Belfast born musician and performer working in the midwest and beyond both as a “One-Man-Band” and with his duo Gould and Jaeger.  Through the years Ian has traveled the world with his music as far east as Moscow and as far west as Sanfrancisco. These days he resides in the Delafield area with his wife Liz

Ernest Brusubardis IV

Ernest Brusubardis IV began musical studies at the age of 4, studying piano from his Mother and Grandfather.  Attending University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, he went on to earn a B.F.A. (Violin Performance) and a M.M. (String Emphasis).  During his graduate studies, Ernest was coached by Dr. Bernard Zinck and Professor Elena Abend, as a member of the Sorkin Institute of Chamber Music.  Freelancing throughout the Upper Midwest region, Ernest performs throughout the US and Europe with bluegrass band Chicken Wire Empire.

Yeng Thao

Yeng Thao currently freelances on violin, viola, and cello around the Milwaukee area. He is a member of the Kettle Moraine Symphony and frequently gigs with local artists and bands. Thao can be seen in different pit orchestras for various musicals, accompanying community choirs and church services, or sometimes just playing at a small park on a sunny day. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he studied music performance and education. Past teachers include: cello with Roza Borisova and Dr. Stefan Kartman; voice with Evan Bravos and Dr. Colleen Brooks; conducting with Dr. Mark Norman and Dr. Zachary Durlam.

Alisa Jordheim, Soprano

Described as “vocally resplendent,” “powerful,” and possessing “impeccable coloratura” (San Francisco Chronicle), soprano Alisa Jordheim
is praised for her compelling performances in opera, concert, musical theatre, new music, early music, and recital. In the 2023–24 season, she returns to the Pacific Symphony for her role debut as Musetta in La Bohème, returns to Florentine Opera for Berginella in Offenbach’s Songbird, makes her London debut in concert with the Voces8 Foundation, returns to Amarillo Opera in recital, sings Ein deutsches Requiem with New Voices and Carmina Burana with the Northwest Indiana Symphony, and records vocal works by composer Rami Levin on the Acis label. Last season, she returned to the role of Gilda in Rigoletto with both the Pacific Symphony and Amarillo Opera, premiered Lori Laitman’s Wertheim Park with Music of Remembrance, sang Carmina Burana with the Green Lake Festival of Music, and made her Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra debut singing Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and Prangcharoen’s Endless Tears.

Ms. Jordheim is an alumna of the Merola Opera Program, Central City Opera Young Artist Program, Florentine Opera Studio, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in vocal performance with a doctoral cognate in Scandinavian song and diction. She has won awards from The Sullivan Foundation, Metropolitan Opera National
Council, George London Foundation, and the Fulbright Foundation and American Scandinavian Foundation to study Scandinavian song and diction in Norway.

Aaron Agulay, Baritone

Aaron Agulay, baritone, has extensive performing experience in venues and organizations worldwide ranging from summer-stock theaters
to nationally and internationally renowned opera houses—Opernhaus Zürich, Konzert Theater Dern, Theater Magdeburg, Central City Opera,
Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Banff Performing Arts Center, McCaw Hall at Seattle Center, Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, and Carnegie Hall. Some memorable performances include being a featured soloist with Pacific Northwest Ballet’s production of Kent Stowell’s rendering of Orff’s Carmina Burana for their 50th Anniversary Season at The Seattle Opera house, singing the role of Mr. Lindquist in A Little Night Music directed and designed by American fashion designer Isaac Mizarahi with Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and at the Banff Centre for the Performing Arts singing the baritone solo in The Wound-Dresser by John Adams under the composer’s baton.

Lindsay M. Stevens

Lindsay M. Stevens is a dance artist and educator based in Milwaukee, WI. A University of Minnesota alumni, Lindsay studied Graham, Horton, and Limón techniques and had the opportunity to perform with members of the Trisha Brown Dance Company and Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Over the last decade, she has enjoyed presenting original work at dance festivals and events in Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and New York City. Currently, she teaches class and sets original choreography for the competitive company at Studio One Dance Company in Wales, WI.

Annika Nelson

Annika Nelson is a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying under Cuban guitar virtuoso Rene Izquierdo. Coming from Plymouth, Wisconsin, she was active in the band program and played in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, German Band, Musical Pit Band, and Show Choir Combo. In 2022, she was the recipient of the Ruth DeYoung Kohler Scholarship for Artistic Excellence. Her aspiration is to be a professor of guitar and have the opportunities to perform, compete, and teach at the collegiate level.
