Collaborations
Throughout the years MSM has also had the opportunity to work with several prominent guest and resident conductors including Eldon Balko, Robert Bergt, Cary John Franklin, Sharon Hansen, Margaret Hawkins, Richard Hynson, Lee Jacobi, Pasquale Laurino, Alice Parker, Alexander Platt, Scott Stewart, Charles Sullivan, Eric Townell and John Windh.
Also, a frequent part of the seasons is collaborations with the Concord Chamber Orchestra, the Milwaukee Children’s Choir, Milwaukee Youth Symphony and some of the finest instrumental, musicians, dancers and performers in the metropolitan area.
MSM has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with one of Wisconsin’s finest high school choirs, the Muskego High School Chorale and Select Ensemble conducted by Matthew Wanner.
Most recently, MSM featured multiple collaborations to bring the music of Misa Tango to life. Composer of Misa Tango, Martín Palmeri, joined MSM on piano, along with internationally renowned artist Daniel Binelli on bandoneón, and The President’s Quartet from Carthage College on strings.
Notable Performances
- Mahler’s Eighth Symphony – guest artists with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Chorus–a farewell concert to Andreas Delfs
- Presented and sang alongside the Great Lakes Navy Band and the Soldiers’ Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band in a free public concert in front of a capacity audience at the Pabst Theater
- A fully staged performance of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with members of the Milwaukee Ballet, guest soloists and the Marquette University Choir–accompanied by two pianos and a percussion ensemble
- A dedication concert to the Wisconsin victims of the 9/11 disaster with special guests from the Wauwatosa Fire Department Color Guard
- Two concerts presented as part of the Performing Arts Series at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center
- The first concert featuring guest soloists from the Florentine Opera Studio Artists
- The second a unique collaboration with the Ko-Thi Dance Company of Milwaukee (an African dance company)
- A dedication concert to the Wisconsin victims of the 9/11 disaster with special guests from the Wauwatosa Fire Department Color Guard
- The Midwest premiere of Misa a Buenos Aires (Misa Tango) with the composer (Martín Palmeri) at the keyboard, and featuring Daniel Binelli on the bandoneon.
