About us
HISTORY
Founded in 1972 by Marlys Greinke, Master Singers of Milwaukee is in its fiftieth continuous season. Throughout the years, we have grown and adapted but have always stayed in touch with our community and our mission.
Master Singers has and continues to be guided by our Mission Statement—Master Singers of Milwaukee celebrates a passion for vocal artistry by exploring the dimensions of choral music that engage, uplift and rejuvenate the human spirit through extraordinary choral music and exceptional performances.
COMMUNITY
MSM is a community of singers, but more than that, we are an integral part of the Milwaukee community. Each season, our concerts are performed in different venues throughout the greater Milwaukee area and explore a diverse array of cultures.
MSM also enjoys reaching out to the community through special concerts. From our early days at the Sherman Park German Christmas festivities to more recent performances for Festa Italiana, we welcome the opportunity to share music in venues both large and small including private parties and special occasions.
MUSICIANS
MSM is an adult mixed-voice choral ensemble composed of talented vocal musicians from the greater Milwaukee area. Former conductor and music director, Dr. Eduardo García-Novelli, brought a wonderful brightness enlivening our ensemble with his rich and detailed background of musical knowledge, understanding, and a “spirit of life” in presenting varied, interesting and challenging programs. Our current conductor and music director, Dr. Zachary Durlam brings a wealth of musical knowledge and will be expanding upon the legacy Dr. Eduardo García-Novelli brought to the Master Singers.
Our choir’s depth of range and power comes from singers with extensive musical backgrounds ranging from international vocal soloists singing throughout America, Europe and Japan, church and school choral directors, high-quality students from area schools and serious amateur musicians.
MUSIC
Master Singers of Milwaukee is dedicated to performing a wide variety of great music of all eras, genres and composers past and present. We present three to four concerts every season.
The versatile ensemble has sung the compositions of over 400 composers ranging from the Renaissance of Hildegard von Bingen, Palestrina and Monteverdi, the classics of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, the romance of Faure and Poulenc and the current compositions of Part, Paulus and Rutter.
